Skew: a skew gear is when a crossed toothed gear is meshed with another crossed toothed gear.

Spiral bevel: spiral gears can be produced in a circular or non-circular shape.

Hypoid: these precision gears are similar to spiral bevels. Except the fact that in hypoid shaft axis do not intersect.

External: in this gear, teeth are formed in the outer surface of a cylinder or cone.

Internal: it is one with the pitch angle exceeding 90 degrees.
